Liar!

The past few days have certainly shown us that the profit from lies is measured in chaos.  Attention is diverted from meaningful consideration of real issues to focus on the increasing duplicity the American people have been the victims of.

Guiliani has been the cathartic agent that has exposed the rot corroding our executive branch of government.  The blatant disregard for the truth has destroyed any credibility of the White House.  So the question I keep asking is:  How is it that 40% of American citizens still approve of this behavior and ‘believe’ whatever Trump and his allies say? 

This is such a sad state of affairs.  The daily press briefing at the White House is a joke.  One of the reporters who attends every day said that yesterday, after the Guiliani excretions, that the tenor of the room had changed.  Sarah Sanders clearly has lost the respect of all in the room as they truly realized that anything she says is probably not the truth.  She lamely stated that she 'delivers all the facts that are available at the moment', even if they are misleading. Many are asking why they should continue to attend.

The news media are “Breaking News” hysterical over all the inconsistencies in everybody’s sound bites.  All the stories are changing hour to hour about Stormy Daniels, Michael Cohen, Robert Mueller et al, ad nauseum.  There is open outrage and laughter by all the correspondents who cannot reconcile all the conflicting statements.

Trump continues to tweet lies and half-truths all day long.  Our eyes and ears glaze over from the assault on our senses.  Trump has all his facts wrong about so many things that our new normal is simply to not believe anything anymore.  We listen and doubt every statement.

Our new normal is the antithesis of the normal of 15 months ago.  We find ourselves living in a ‘post truth’ society where there are no facts.  Our 'leaders' are making up their own facts and repeating them over and over, louder and louder so that there is no truth anymore.  Our ‘leaders’ and cabinet administrators are there for their own profit and certainly not to do the business of the American people.

Trump, who openly disparages the rule of law and the judicial process, threatens to ‘take the fifth’ in the event he is subpoenaed to testify.  Remember when he accused anyone who did that of being no better than the ‘mob’?  He told us that anyone who does that is probably guilty anyway.  Right!

Guiliani now says that the President doesn’t have to testify if subpoenaed…..why not?  Is he above the law?

Is this the ‘winning’ we will all get tired from?

I sure am tired, but cannot see where I am winning anything except heartburn and a headache.

I think the most desperate feeling I have is that there is no escape from this circus.  We have reached a point where the majority Republicans in the House are not interested in separation of powers and checks and balances anymore.  The Republican Congress has abdicated it’s oath to protect the Constitution and instead is protecting it’s nominal leader which is exactly what the Constitution tries to protect against.  They are in collusion with the executive branch in trying to corrupt the rule of law and the Justice Department.  Daily attacks by the likes of Meadows and Jordan on our system of justice are doing damage that will last for years.

I wonder if this is my country anymore.  I wonder if it is time to find another place to live where people value truth.

I am tired of whining and agonizing about all this….I just want it to stop and I am afraid it never will.
